Valarie Johnson was born and raised in Slaton, where she enjoyed an active childhood and school experience. During her time at Slaton High School, she participated in track and cheerleading and has always valued the strong sense of community that comes with growing up in Slaton.

Valarie is happily married to Gabriel Johnson, who is also a Slaton native. Together they have built a large and loving family with seven children and ten grandchildren. Family remains at the center of her life and continues to inspire her commitment to serving others.

After graduating from Slaton High School, Valarie earned her diploma from International Business College and later attended South Plains College. She is also the CEO of Doris-s Daughter, a nonprofit organization founded in honor of her late mother, Doris Cubit Lusk. In her free time, Valarie enjoys walking, spending time with her family, and watching crime documentaries.

Public Service

Valarie has remained active in community service and local leadership throughout her years in Slaton. She has served as a board member for the City of Slaton for the past three years and is currently serving a three-year term. She also served as a board member for the Guadalupe Economic Services Corporation for one year and completed a second year serving as President of the organization. Through her nonprofit work and public service, Valarie continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to helping families and improving the Slaton community.
