The Public Works Department for the City of Slaton is dedicated to maintaining and improving essential city infrastructure and public services that support the daily needs of residents and visitors. The department oversees a variety of operations that help maintain the safety, cleanliness, appearance, and functionality of the community.
Public Works is responsible for several key divisions, including Cemetery, Parks, Street & Sanitation, Water & Wastewater, and Water System Rehabilitation.
Cemetery
The department maintains and oversees Englewood Cemetery, providing services related to cemetery operations, grounds maintenance, burial arrangements, and record management.
Parks

Water System Rehabilitation
The Water System Rehabilitation Department was established in 1991 with the goal of replacing outdated two-inch or smaller galvanized water lines throughout the City with four-inch C900 pipe or larger. To date, approximately 80% of the smaller water lines within the City have been replaced.
This division has also completed numerous water and sewer system extensions, including the installation of a three-mile water pipeline serving the airport.
Services provided by the Water System Rehabilitation Department include:
- Replacing and upgrading aging water mains
- Expanding water and sewer mains
- Improving and modernizing utility infrastructure throughout the City
